Freegal Music is a music download service for libraries. It contains the entire Sony Music digital catalog with over 400,000 songs covering more than fifty genres. Furthermore, Freegal is DRM-free which means that it will work easily on any device with any operating system or browser. There is no platform or software to download and it works easily with either PCs or Macs with no reconfiguration.
Freegal works with the library’s existing authentication system or it can provide an authentication system for libraries that don’t have their own.
In addition, Freegal Music can provide the library with budget certainty. Libraries decide how many to downloads to purchase and can have their purchases spread evenly over the year. The library can also set the number of downloads per patron per week. If the number of patron or library downloads for that week are reached, patrons can reserve their selections to a wish list.
